Is the Defect a Warranty Claim, or a Plumbing Job?
Two things decide whether a defect is a warranty claim, and neither is how bad the fault looks.
The first is whether the warranty is live and whether you are the owner it names. It runs from the day the builder handed the house over, not from the day you noticed. The second is whether the builder delivered the fault or the household has worn the fitting out since. A waste line that never drained properly from handover came that way. A tap cartridge worn through three years of daily use did not.
Ring the builder first while it reads that way, because a repair by someone else can be the reason a builder refuses the claim. Want the cause pinned down before you argue it? Ask us. - Have the failed component named, with the date it went in. A written scope naming the fitting and its installation date is something a builder can act on. “Bathroom leak, repaired” is not.
